Advanced Life Support  (ALS 1 and ALS2)

  ALS crew performs a more detailed assessment of the patient's condition.  The EMT-I or EMT-P is qualified for advanced lifesaving skills and to administer medications to stabilize the sick or trauma condition.  ALS performs all the Basic Life Support procedures and the following:  

 

 

 

EMT- Intermediate
  Paramedic  
  • Intravenous therapy
 
   
  • Advanced airway management; endotracheal intubation
 
   
  • Cardiac arrythmia interpretation
 
   
  • Advanced medications to treat cardiac patients, diabetics, overdoses, allergic reactions, breathing emergencies, cardiac dysrhythmias, shock, stroke, and seizures.
 
         

 

Basic Life Support   (BLS)   BLS crews are qualified to perform Basic Life Support with equipment and treatment certified by the State of Illinois.  Types of emergencies that requires the EMT-B level of care are:    

 

EMT-Basic  
  • Basic Assessments, vital monitoring, blood sugar readings
 
   
  • Fractured or dislocated bones
 
   
  • Minor lacerations, abrasions, and contusions
 
   
  • Cardiac defibrillation
 
     
  • Administer general medications such as aspirin, albuterol, oral glucose, nitroglycerin, glucagon, epinepherine, and oxygen.
 
  Non-Emergency Transfers   Non-emergency transfers are scheduled with healthcare providers to transfer their patient's to hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, dialysis centers, rehabilitation facilities, and to the patient's residence.  
         
  CPR Training

 

  CPR training is available to local area schools, brownie troops, girl scouts, cub scouts, boy scout troops, homemakers and caretakers.  Contact Bob Hoscheid, Managing Director for further details and schedules.
